Thom Poe's music invites the listener to find new meaning in everyday sounds. As part of a project on perception in Vienna, Poe made digital recordings of fifteen escalators. He was fascinated by their rhythm and pitch.

In 2002, he began work on part one of his "Concert for Escalators". Using only escalator sounds, he created a haunting voice for these fixtures of daily commuter life that may change the way we think about even the most unremarkable objects in our path.

Please check back soon for a feature article on Thom Poe and his music. We will also provide links to Part Two of "Concert for Escalators", and to several recent works.
